Max Payne review by DC Tauntaun
Sometimes there are films like Meet the Spartans that comes along and you call it a worthless film. Then there are films like this that you call pointless. One has to wonder why it even exists. Considering it is based on a video game about Max shooting down the mob that took out his family, he never really even reaches tough guy status in the movie until the final 15 minutes. Then again, he doesn't even feel like a flawed individual. What is he? They do a poor job of connecting the pain of his loss to the audience even though the whole movie is about that. The senseless shooting follows the video game, but again, in a movie setting, that is just pointless. It is like watching a person taking target practice. Do you enjoy watching a person play a shooting video game? Odds are you either don't like them or you would rather be playing. It sets itself up for a sequel that will never happen. Fans of the video game may appreciate it, and fans of different styles of guns might also, but pointless is pointless. Then again at least it game someone jobs.
