The Express is based on the true story of Ernie Davis. A very inspirational story and with the clapping of the crowd at the end you can get an idea of whether it was good or not. It's actually a better inspirational film than it is a great football movie. It is slow at times and layered with drama and messages to speak. Those going to see a sports movie may be disappointed as it is more a drama.
This show will be for all ages. From children to senior citizens everyone in the crowd found a smile. I was not familiar with the Ernie Davis story and I was impressed. The film makers did a good job of mixing the politics of the day into the storyline without it being too preachy. It will be an excellent film for parents to introduce their children to the racial divide of the past and teach them something about it. It is rated PG for the thematic elements.
