X-Files: I Want to Believe Review by DC Tauntaun

In a nutshell, if you are not familiar with the TV series, you will have some troubles with following along. I know Chris Carter said it was made to stand on it's own, but having seen many X-Files on TV I know there is a lot that hangs on prior information.

X-File fans will appreciate the direction they took the Mulder & Scully relationship and the challenges presented to both of them in their roles. The dramas afforded them provided the spark of the film.

The film as a whole though is just average. If you were watching the TV series you would rank it with the other average or slightly better than average episodes. Without the love of the TV series it will fall flat with the viewer. It is a psychological thriller, and one that will take you down a solid path, if once again you have prior X-Files knowledge.

In summary, If you like the TV series, go see it. If you don't or don't know anything about it, don't. Catch it on video after you have sat down and watched a few seasons to learn to appreciate this film.
